摘要: A 63-year-old white male presented with a nine-month history of nontender ulcerated lesion on his ear. Light microscopy demonstrated moderately well circumscribed in the dermis which abutted upon epidermis. There was no evidence continuity between tumor and overlying epithelium. The very cellular an admixture cells - spindle, polyhedral bizarre giant cells. Mitotic figures were abundant frequently abnormal. We interpreted this to have clinical pathologic features atypical fibroxanthoma (AFX). Ultrastructure, however, showed tonofilaments desmosomes indicative epithelial origin therefore most consistent spindle cell squamous carcinoma (SCSC). It is urged that, when possible, electron be performed problematic cases diagnosed either as AFX or since it valid basis correct diagnosis can made.
