Biodegradation of beta-cypermethrin by a novel Azoarcus indigens strain HZ5

摘要: A novel strain HZ5 was isolated from the activated sludge of a pesticide manufacturer in Hangzhou, which capable degrading beta-cypermethrin (beta-CP). Based on its physiological characteristics and analysis 16S rDNA gene, identified as Azoarcus indigens, new genus that can degrade beta-CP effectively. Strain could over wide range temperature (20 to 40°C) pH (5.5 9.0), optimal were 30°C 7.0. The highest degradation rate approximately 70% 50 mg/L within 144 h at 7.0 MSM. An additional carbon source enhance biodegradation beta-CP. Studies showed no significant enantioselectivity.
