摘要: Potato is the world’s fourth most important crop, however, it ranks first in yield per unit of land among major food crops (F.A.O. Production Year Book, 1991). It mainly grown temperate zone and highlands Andean Tropics South America, where frosts are often factor reducing quality potato crops. For example, countries alone, estimated that over 400,000 ha field threatened by frost injury every year (Vega Bamberg, 1995; Van Eck, Estrada et al., 1993; Barrientos 1994). The commonly cultivated potato, Solanum tuberosum, possesses little hardiness, whereas many tuber-bearing species much hardier than S. tuberosum. would be desirable to combine higher potential tuberosum with hardiness traits from hardy relatives. However, efforts transfer genes wild conventional breeding have been proven possible but likely a lengthy process (Estrada, 1987; 1993).
