摘要: Objectives/Hypothesis Vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) is a critical mediator of vascular permeability and angiogenesis likely plays an important role in cochlear function hearing. This review highlights the VEGF hearing loss associated with vestibular schwannomas, otitis media effusion, sensorineural loss. Study Design PubMed literature review. Methods A was conducted to determine diseases affecting hearing. Results Therapeutic efficacy has been demonstrated for anti-VEGF agent bevacizumab tumor size reduction improvement patients neurofibromatosis type 2. The functional Merlin, protein product nf2 gene, results decrease expression anti-angiogenic SEMA3F through Rac-1–dependent mechanism, allowing promote angiogenesis. Bevacizumab may therefore restore angiogenic balance inhibiting relative increase VEGF. Many clinical findings effusion can be reproduced by delivery recombinant transtympanic injection or submucosal osmotic pump. receptor inhibitors have improve animal model effusion. affects both inner ear damage repair processes loss. Conclusions VEGF loss. Laryngoscope, 124:E340–E346, 2014
