摘要: This investigation examined the physicochemical characteristics of a fullerene derivative, fullerenol [C60H z O x (OH) y ] (also known as “polyhydroxyl fullerene”) prepared in alkaline media, and its synthesis by-products to enable assessment mechanisms factors influencing biological response. Physicochemical analyses included characterization by dynamic light scattering (DLS) transmission electron (TEM), surface charge through electrophoretic analysis mobility, chemical composition using ultraviolet/visible light, Fourier-transform infrared (FTIR), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. Fullerenol was shown exist molecular state at concentrations below 20 mg/L with agglomeration occur gas concentration increased; sonication samples multiple increased agglomeration. group varied between three independent events number total derivatized carbon atoms ranging from 21 30 mono-oxygenated groups 5 20. Surface configuration influenced acidity solution which it synthesized, determined FTIR. By-products contained 17 reactants tetrabutylammonium hydroxide (TBAH) sodium (NaOH) were found be present all by-products. generated methanol rinses contain no di-oxygenated moieties, only sample encountered during investigations fullerene-based materials containing groups.
