Methods In 2013, a cross-sectional study intestinal parasitic infections was conducted among 423 children three primary schools. Data on socio-demographic variables were collected using pre-tested questionnaire. Stool samples processed Kato-Katz thick smear technique hemoglobin values determined by HemoCue capillary blood. Finally, positive containing ova hookworms cultured modified Harada-Mori for identification. Results Overall hookworm infection 10.4% (44/423). The predominant identified Necator americanus (43/44). Prevalence the 4.5%. Hookworm not significantly associated with (P = 0.98), however, lack footwear showed significant association (AOR 2.39, 95% confidence interval: 1.172-4.867; P 0.02). Conclusions We conclude is relatively high schoolchildren. Although our result shows no between anemia, observed warrants serious health problem participants. Proper intervention methods that include education, personal environmental hygiene are recommended. If possible should be encouraged wear shoes regularly.
