摘要: Abstract The thermal decomposition of two clay minerals, illite and montmorillonite, is followed by a combination powder XRD, 57Fe Mossbauer ESR investigations. changes in the resonance spectra reflect well various phases decomposition; thus relocation structural iron during dehydroxylation (also oxidation iron(II) present sample) complete 800°C. breakdown structure recrystallization new also reflected; indeed bulk initial distributes itself between spinel phase haematite. In case illite, homogeneous glass formed at 1300°C; but for crystalline phases, together with glassy matrix are that temperature. paper illustrates combined use spectroscopies can offer sensitive probe investigation thermolysis iron-bearing clays.
