摘要: Publisher Summary Recently, studies have been made to orient purple membranes (PM) in solution using electric fields. This chapter describes the procedures necessary induce orientation of PMs and check their orientation, presents some typical data measured on this system. The aim experiments performed is create a system practically unperturbed study light-driven proton pumping function bacteriorhodopsin (BR) molecules embedded membranes. can be sustained for seconds by field, even after switching off field relaxation time long enough that measurements taking shorter than ∼ 1 sec performed. photocycle BR 20 msec. Consequently, photocycle, or more precisely, unidirectional events pump, become possible. To observe signals associated with circuit contains resistance R series PM cell. It concluded first steps already done but detailed pH, salt, temperature effects natural modified systems which would produce important new information still remains.
