摘要: This 2007 Chemistry Nobel prize update covers scientific advances of the past decade in our understanding electrocatalytic processes on surfaces nanoscale shape-controlled polyhedral solids. It is argued that field chemical reaction solid has recently been paying increasing attention to fundamental electrified solid–liquid interfaces and toward operando study minute fraction catalytically active, structurally dynamic non-equilibrium Taylor-type surface sites. Meanwhile, despite mounting evidence acting as structural proxies some cases, concept catalytic structure sensitivity well-defined continues be a key organizing principle for science nanocrystals and, hence, constitutes central recurring theme this review. After addressing aspects recent progress wet-chemical synthesis shaped nanocatalysts, three areas current priority are discussed more detail: oxygen electroreduction Pt–Ni polyhedra with its technological relevance low temperature fuel cells, CO2 hydrocarbons Cu puzzling interplay between effects, evolution from water transition metal oxides. The review closes conclusion Surface Science thermal catalysis, honored by Ertl's ago, continue show major repercussions emerging Interface Science.
