摘要: Cytoplasmic male sterility (CMS) is primarily caused by chimeric genes located in the mitochondrial genomes. In Brassica juncea, orf288 has been identified as a CMS-associated gene hau CMS line; however, neither specific abortive stage nor molecular function of have determined. We therefore characterized line, and found that defective mitochondria affect development archesporial cells during L2 stage, leading to sterility. The expression level transcript was higher male-sterility line than fertility-restorer although no significant differences were apparent at protein level. toxicity region ORF288 be near N-terminus repressed growth Escherichia coli. However, transgenic different portions indicated causes resides between amino acids 73 288, which E. coli did not result inhibition. Transcriptome analysis revealed wide range involved anther differentially expressed line. This study provides new insights into mechanism affects fertility juncea.
