摘要: PURPOSE: to observe the impact of obesity and other risk factors on rate failure in patients submitted Burch's surgery for treatment urinary incontinence. METHODS: cases study surgery, from 1992 2003. Patients were evaluated at second post-surgery appointment (average 66 days) after one-year follow-up, classified two groups: Continent Non-continent. Variables analyzed were: age, parity, body mass index (BMI), menopause duration, duration hormonal therapy, urodynamic evaluation, history tract infection, previous incontinence diabetes, cystocele uterine prolapse, time spent hospital, necessity self-probing, post-surgical spontaneous micturition, surgical wound. Data with Statistical Package Social Sciences 14.0 statistical package. For comparison continuous variables, Student's t-test or Mann-Whitney test used, Fisher exact χ2 tests, categorical variables (p 30 Odds Ratio was 3.7 (CI95%=1.2-11.5). CONCLUSIONS: has shown be an important factor first follow-up year. Results show that BMI>30 have times more chance being non-continent than non-obese patients.
