Wetting and Properties of Reaction Products in Active Metal Brazing of SiC

摘要: Joining of SiC ceramics by active metal brazing method was studied. Sintered bodies TiC, Ti5Si3 and Ti3SiC2, which have been reported to be the reaction products between Ti, were fabricated. Some properties for these products, i.e., microhardness, four point bending strength thermal expansion coefficient, investigated. Their influences on joining discussed: formation is thought undesirable as a product due its weakness, large difference coefficients SiC, means that thicker layer grows, larger residual stress develops. possibilities good wettability Ag-Cu-2% Ti braze discussed, while Ag-Cu did not wet. The wetting behavior alloys mentioned above investigated sessile drop method. variations their contact angles function temperature observed, showed same behaviors respectively. These results are mean phenomenon promotes alloy does depend but adsorption.
