摘要: Summary The partial androgen deficiency in aging male (PADAM) has been of great interest to investigators and the public last few years. For males, androgens are said be essential for maintenance quality life (QoL) but there no data available with respect QoL PADAM yet. In order evaluate changes individual well-being males older than 50 years subnormal levels free testosterone (FT) (<200 pmol l−1), these men were asked fill a questionnaire regarding QoL. The objective this study was compare age-matched (group 1; n = 24) normoandrogenic elderly 2; somatic indicators endocrine status. Participants suffered from benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) hospitalized prostate surgery. Health-related assessed by SF-12 Health Survey, including physical health index mental index. enlarged scales ‘vitality’ ‘psychological well-being’ SF-36. Additionally, patients about social clinical items. There statistically significant differences between two groups parameters. reduced group 1 (P < 0.05; effect size medium (d = 0.57)) whereas similar both groups. correlation indices very low not (r = 0.05, P = 0.72). Patients described lower vitality compared 2 (P < 0.05), could observed psychological well-being. Therefore, androgen-deficient seem have impression ability. Our emphasize that subjective description health-related aspects is sensitive methodological approach discover patients. differentiation those normal seems more A question whether difference remains detectable if supplemented men. Whether supplementation beneficial carefully considered.
