摘要: Tubular structures extending from plasmodesmata in cowpea mosaic virus (CPMV)-infected tissue have been implicated to play an important role cell-to-cell movement of this virus. Using a cauliflower 35S promoter-based transient expression vector, we show that only the CPMV M RNA-encoded 48-kDa protein (48K protein) protoplasts is sufficient induce these structures. Strikingly, 48K number nonhost plant species, such as barley, Arabidopsis thaliana, and carrot, also resulted tubular structure formation. Thus, it not likely viral protein, though playing key CPMV, has determining host range CPMV.
