摘要: The reduction of muscle mass and increased protein catabolism in aging can determine the occurrence metabolic alterations-such as hyperglycemia reduced insulin sensitivity-in elderly subjects with diabetes mellitus. Therefore, aim study was to evaluate effect nutritional supplementation oral amino acid mixture (OAAM) type 2 diabetes. This approach conducted an attempt antagonize by means endogenous synthesis improve glucose metabolism sensitivity. A randomized, open-label, crossover poorly controlled (glycosylated hemoglobin level [HbA(1c)] >7%) (age range, 65 85 years) OAAM significantly fasting postprandial blood HbA(1c), whereas all parameters remained substantially unchanged group treated placebo. Fasting levels resistance at baseline decreased during supplementation. These results persisted also after from No changes lipid levels, creatinine, homocysteine, urinary albumin excretion rate were observed throughout study, a mild but significant increase high-density lipoprotein cholesterol found We suggest that availability for skeletal function strength could ameliorate control sensitivity patients
