Thanks for the "Mammaries": Breast Cancer Survivorship Among Pilipino American Women

摘要: Pilipino Americans comprise the second largest Asian American subgroup in United States and experience highest rates of breast cancer compared to any other for which data is available. However, literature specific social support survivors minimal. Utilizing a qualitative research approach, this thesis investigated three areas among survivors: (1) How perceived received; (2) Role groups; (3) religion. One semi-structured focus group interview was conducted with eight participants from greater Los Angeles area. Emergent themes included sources support, survivorship, relationships ways coping. Participants' discussion surrounding these topics contextualized by cultural values population. Thesis findings can inform future projects that build on survivorship.
