摘要: Maca (Lepidium meyenii), an Andean plant of the brassica (mustard) family has been used for centuries in Andes as adaptogenic to manage anemia, infertility and female hormone balance. The aim this review was assess evidence against effectiveness maca a treatment menopausal symptoms. We searched 17 databases from their inception up June 2011 included all randomized clinical trials (RCTs) that compared any type maca-based intervention placebo All studies were assessed methodological quality using Cochrane 'risk bias' assessment tool. Four RCTs met inclusion criteria. These tested effects on symptoms healthy perimenopausal, early postmenopausal, late postmenopausal women. Using Kupperman Menopausal Index Greene Climacteric Score, demonstrated favorable maca. There have very few rigorous results our systematic provide limited However, total number trials, sample size, average primary studies, too draw firm conclusions. Furthermore, safety not proved yet. Therefore, efficacy should be larger studies.
