摘要: We recently demonstrated that the administration of indoxyl sulfate (dietary protein metabolite) to 5/6-nephrectomized rats accelerated progression chronic renal failure by increasing transforming growth factor (TGF)-beta 1 synthesis in kidneys, which enhanced expressions tissue inhibitor metalloproteinase (TIMP)-1 and type collagen, leading fibrosis. The aim present study was clarify mechanism increases TGF-beta kidneys uremic rats. Since infiltrative monocytes are suggested be an important source tubulointerstitial fibrosis, we examined effect on gene expression intercellular adhesion molecule (ICAM)-1, is involved infiltration kidneys. Indoxyl observed enhance mRNA levels ICAM-1 as well those 1, TIMP-1 pro alpha (I) collagen cortex In addition, vitro addition significantly increased cultured proximal tubular cells. Thus, overload directly
