摘要: Abstract Ombrogenous mires, or bogs, are remarkable in that they organic landforms built from living plants and their partially decayed remains (peat), together with large quantities of water derived directly precipitation. In the uplands northwest British Isles, tend to dominate landscapes wherever slope allows. The components ombrogenous mires highly sensitive change, especially hydrology. Their vegetation may alter response very small changes level and/or chemistry, whereas underlying peat undergo total degradation on dewatering. function intact mire ecosystems incorporates mechanisms which maintain stability when environmental conditions change; observation indicates, however, threshold be crossed under some natural as well man-induced circumstances.
