摘要: This article presents the results of a field investigation saturated hydraulic conductivity Ksat and bulk density (ρbd) in an Atlantic blanket bog southwest Ireland. Starting at peatland stream moving along uphill transect toward interior, ρbd were examined regular intervals. Saturated horizontal (Khsat) vertical (Kvsat) was estimated two depths: 10–20 30–40 cm below peat surface, whereas for full profile. We consider separate zones, one riparian zone extending 10 m from second interior. found that higher (~10–5 m s–1) interior than (~10–6 m s–1), converse applied to density, with lowest (~0.055 g cm–3) highest (~0.11 g cm–3) zone. In general, we Khsat be approximately twice Kvsat. These support idea lower margins control hydrology peatlands. It is therefore important spatial variation these key properties accommodated hydrological models if correct rainfall runoff characteristics are correctly modelled. Stream flow analysis over 3 years catchment outlet showed composed 8% base 92% flood flow, suggesting this source rather sink floodwaters. Copyright © 2011 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.
