摘要: The latest Devonian–Mississippian interval records the long-term transition from Devonian greenhouse conditions into Late Palaeozoic Ice Age (LPIA). This was punctuated by three short glaciation events in Famennian, mid-Tournaisian and Visean stages, respectively. Primary evidence for is based on diamictite deposits striated pavements South America, Appalachia Africa. aim of this review to assess primary biostratigraphic sedimentological data constraining through transition. These are then compared wider record eustasy, mass extinction isotope stratigraphy lower palaeolatitudes. Precise age determinations vital integrate high- low-palaeolatitude datasets, understand glacial control global changes. Palynological techniques currently provide best tool date these correlate effects globally. highlights a high degree uncertainty known history early LPIA as much stratigraphic limited and/or unpublished. Future high-resolution studies needed constrain both spatially temporally Mississippian.
