摘要: The inability of the mammalian central nervous system (CNS) to undergo spontaneous regeneration has long been regarded as a tenet neurobiology. However, although this is largely true neuronal elements adult CNS, save for discrete populations granular neurons, same not its glial elements. In particular, loss oligodendrocytes, which results in demyelination, triggers and often highly efficient regenerative response, remyelination, new oligodendrocytes are generated myelin sheaths restored denuded axons. Yet, remyelination humans without limitation, variety demyelinating conditions associated with sustained disabling loss. review, we will review biology including cells signals involved; describe when occurs why it fails consequences failure; discuss approaches therapeutically enhancing diseases both children adults, by stimulating endogenous oligodendrocyte progenitor transplanting these into demyelinated brain.
