摘要: Background Duration of untreated eating disorder (DUED), that is, the time between illness onset and start first evidence-based treatment, is a key outcome for early intervention. Internationally, reported DUED ranges from 2.5 to 6 years different disorders (EDs). To shorten DUED, we developed FREED (First Episode Rapid Early Intervention EDs), service model care pathway emerging adults with EDs. Here, assess impact on in multi-centre study using quasi-experimental design. Methods Two hundred seventy-eight patients aged 16-25, episode less than 3 duration, were recruited specialist ED services offered treatment via FREED. These compared 224 patients, similar age seen previously participating (treatment as usual [TAU]) waiting times uptake. Results had significantly shorter TAU patients. On average, was reduced by ∼4 months when systemic delays minimal. Furthermore, 97.8% took up versus 75.4% TAU. Discussion Findings indicate improves access ED. may reduce distress, prevent deterioration facilitate recovery.
