摘要: Glycosyltransferases are the enzymes that synthesize oligosaccharides, polysaccharides and glycoconjugates. The analysis of wealth sequences now available in databases allowed determination conserved peptide motifs for each class enzyme. Recent experimental data demonstrated their importance donor acceptor substrate binding catalysis. Fold-recognition studies provided first models catalytic domains some these enzymes, while successes glycosyltransferase crystallography opening new routes structural glycobiology.
