摘要: STABLE carbon isotope variations in tree rings are normally attributed to either a direct temperature dependent fractionation process the tree1, or alternatively atmospheric composition2,3. To clarify this apparent conflict we have begun measurements of ratios Southern Hemisphere trees. In spite some obvious differences between two trees studied so far, both show positive correlation with regional trends over past 75 yr. This result is discussed terms alternatives above, and view extracting palaeoclimatic information. Verification such influences could provide > 2,000 yr data on climate region.
