摘要: Purpose Chronic periodontitis (CP) is a complex immuno-inflammatory disease that results from preestablished gingivitis. We investigated potential differences in salivary peptidome health and CP. Experimental design Saliva was collected nine CP patients ten healthy subjects, which five were enriched following endoProteoFASP approach, separated identified by nanoHPLC-MALDI-TOF/TOF. Protease prediction carried out silico with Proteasix. Parallel gelatin collagen (I) zymographies performed to study proteolytic activity CP. Results An association of increased gelatinolytic collagenolytic observed, mainly attributed metalloproteases, remarkably MMP9. revealed distinct protease profiles health. Peptidomic data corroborated the inflammatory status, demonstrated intact histatin 1 may play an important role defense response against oral pathogens. The application approach subjects resulted identification eight surrogate peptide markers, be used multiplex identify CP. These peptides belong acidic PRP P-B peptide. Particularly, fragments exhibited domains predicted antimicrobial activity, corroborating function. Conclusions clinical relevance The comparison between obtained control samples showed specific CP, remarkable should further validated studies large number subjects.
