摘要: Currently, the European economy is using nearly three times ecological assets that are locally available. This situation cannot be sustained indefinitely. Tools needed can help reverse unsustainable trend. In 2010, an EC funded One Planet Economy Network: Europe (OPEN:EU) project was launched to develop evidence and innovative practical tools will allow policy-makers civil society identify policy interventions transform into a Economy, by 2050. Building on premise no indicator alone able comprehensively monitor (progress towards) sustainability, has drawn Ecological, Carbon Water Footprints define Footprint Family suite of indicators, track human pressure planet. An environmentally-extended multi-regional input–output (MRIO) model then been developed group under common framework combine indicators in family with national economic accounts trade statistics. Although unable full spectrum pressures, once grouped within MRIO model, assess appropriation assets, GHG emissions as well freshwater consumption pollution associated specific products services specified country. Using models context analyses also enables take account production chains technologies country origin.
