摘要: In the United States, endemic mycoses--blastomycosis, coccidioidomycosis, and histoplasmosis--pose considerable clinical public health challenges. Although causative fungi typically exist within broadly defined geographic areas or ecologic niches, some evidence suggests that cases have occurred in humans animals not exposed to these areas. We describe acquired outside regions of traditionally endemicity. These patients often severe disease, but diagnosis may be delayed because a low index suspicion for mycotic many more probably go entirely undetected. Increased awareness diseases, with specific focus on their potential occurrence unusual areas, is needed. Continued interdisciplinary efforts reevaluate better true endemicity are warranted, along nuanced view notion The term "nonendemic" should used care; mycoses such might accurately considered "not known endemic."
