摘要: Mannose has been measured in hydrolysates of cell wall carbohydrates from fronds 109 species ferns 40 genera. Sixty-four 24 genera contained high (10–20%) or medium-high (5–10%) levels mannose the their green leaf (laminar) tissue. Forty-five 16 however (principally Thelypteris, Asplenium, Blechnum, Doodia and Polystichum) little no (<2%) laminar tissues. The few examined fern orders other than Filicales also had low cell-wall mannose. Only one genus, Phymatodes, gave with respectively polymer lamina. Cell-wall were midribs found to be only Asplenium spp. Holocellulose (11·5 g) species, Pyrrosia serpens, was fractionated alkali into hemicellulose (1·2 g), possible galactoglucomannan (4·5 cellulose (2·7 g).
