摘要: Abstract Heavy metal-contaminated land is increasingly becoming an important environmental, health, economic, and planning issue in Pakistan. The unplanned disposal of industrial effluent from tannery, for example, has resulted a many fold increase chromium (Cr) the near tannery. This study was undertaken to compare total DTPA-available Cr contents soil roots leaves tree species growing on it with those nearby noncontaminated reference site at Kala Shah Kakoo, Panjab, A very reduced plant cover tannery effluent-contaminated noted there sharp boundary between polluted nonpolluted sites, suggesting strong selection pressure. Polluted contained considerable higher amounts as compared but no correlation found dried tissue DTPA-extractable Cr. Roots all three species, i.e. Dalbergia sissoo , Acacia arabica Populus euroamericana both contaminated well possessed arbuscular mycorrhizal fungal (AMF) infection their AMF propagules associated rhizospheres. D. A. were also studded nitrogen-fixing rhizobial root nodules, while P. ectomycorrhizal infections. dual would encourage mineral nutrition, including community varied, trees exposed wide variety such Glomus Scutellospora Acaulospora whereas only Gigaspora spp. mycorrhizospheres, Typical patterns absence spores rhizospheres indicate potential error using extrapolate infection. High adversely affected size, diversity, richness measured by Shannon–Weiner index. mycorrhizae protecting host against harmful effect heavy metals phytoremediation Cr-polluted discussed.
