Stream discharge using mobile large‐scale particle image velocimetry: A proof of concept

摘要: [1] The authors describe a mobile large-scale particle image velocimetry–based system (MLSPIV) that allows real-time visualization and quantitative estimation of instantaneous averaged flow characteristics at the river free surface with minimum preparation from banks river. High spatial resolution remote, real-time, fully digital nature MLSPIV make it well suited to work as either stand-alone instrument, presented in paper, or an integrated networks for monitoring ungauged basins. Preliminary tests LSPIV configuration demonstrate technique has potential efficiently support research riverine systems. Discharge measurements obtained show good agreement discharge measured by U.S. Geological Survey stream gauging station other measurement methods.
