摘要: Abstract Microbial degradation of thiocyanate (SCN−) has been reported to suffer from instability highlighting the need for improved understanding underlying mechanisms and boundaries. Respirometry, batch tests DNA sequencing analysis were used improve a mixed culture treating coke wastewater rich in SCN−. An uncultured species Thiobacillus was most abundant (26%) displayed similar metabolic capabilities denitrificans thioparus. Thiocyanate hydrolysed/oxidised NH4+-N, HCO3− SO42−. Nevertheless, at 360–2100 mg SCN−/L breakdown pathway observed. Respirometry demonstrated that NH4+-N inhibitory SCN− (IC50: 316 mg/L). Likewise, phenol (180 mg/L) hydroxylamine (0.25–16 mg/L) reduced by 41% ca. 7%, respectively. The pathways can enable stable treatment efficiencies compliance with effluent
