摘要: Presence of thiocyanate (SCN–) is a problem considerable interest in many industrial wastewaters, where this contaminant often appears accompanied by secondary sources carbon, nitrogen and/or sulphur. In order to understand the effect these compounds on biodegradability SCN–, work investigates how bacterium Pararacoccus thiocyanatus utilises three elements that form molecule and compare behaviour with those obtained presence other N, S C. Result showed was capable utilizing as sole substrate, achieving specific biodegradation rates approximate 1.20 mg SCN– (mg cell·h)–1 eliminating initial concentrations up 5,000 L–1. Experimental data were successfully fitted Teisser model, assuming existence substrate inhibition obtaining values μmax 0.059 h–1, Ks 790 L–1 Ki 6,520 for free mineral medium. additional carbon implied catabolic repression thiocyanate. case, only lower than 3,500 could be treated, degradation around 0.70 SCN–·(h·mg cell)–1. Tessier model higher maximum growth rate (0.344 h–1), changing also affinity constants (1,150 1,730 L–1, respectively).
