摘要: Abstract Arthrobacter sp. 4Hβ, capable of degrading and utilizing high concentrations p-nitrophenol (PNP) as sole carbon, nitrogen energy source, was isolated from agricultural soil by a simple enrichment culture. Bacterial growth accompanied PNP disappearance nitrite accumulation, with optimal degradation conditions 30 °C pH 8. The pathway via hydroquinone production. Prolonged acclimation period, lower tolerance reduced rate were obtained upon culturing the bacteria in presence increasing concentrations. Complete 17% removal 400 800 mg l −1 initial concentration, respectively, within 24 h incubation. This latter inhibition overcome inoculum size. data suggest that manipulating size can increase strain 4Hβ's to, concentrations, required certain bioremediation technologies.
