摘要: OBJECTIVE To assess the long-term results of total transurethral resection (T-TURP) and minimal prostate (M-TURP) in patients with obstructive symptoms caused by benign prostatic hyperplasia. PATIENTS AND METHODS Between September 1979 1980, 167 were studied: 83 randomized to T-TURP 84 M-TURP. The examined pre-operatively 6 12 months post-operatively. Ten years post-operatively they invited attend for further examination, including uroflowmetry, determination residual volume evaluation subjective symptoms. RESULTS At 10-year follow-up 39 found have died 47 lost follow-up. Twelve had undergone repeat TURP seven been treated urethral stricture. Thus 33 29 M-TURP underwent detailed examination. Significant relief irritative was seen both groups. improvement maximum flow rate remained stable throughout period, no significant differences between two Post-void urine decreased follow-up, minor CONCLUSION is recommended as an alternative T-TURP.
