摘要: Production in populations of deep-sea macrobenthic protobranch bivalves the Rockall Trough (N.E. Atlantic) are estimated from demographic models developed primarily tracking recruitment modes size frequencies an epibenthic-sled time-series a 2.9-km-deep Permanent Station, and corroborated other data. P/B ratios for 4 bivalve-community dominants range 0.49 to 1.65, which fall within inshore protobranchs. Their combined production (114.9 mg wet weight m-2 yr-1), however, is less than half that predicted (363 yr-l) relationships established empirically large data set continental shelf. Total nonforaminiferal macrobenthoscommunity equivalent 122 organic carbon tentatively extrapolated bivalve based on mean 0.98. This value somatic represents around 3 12% total respiratory uptake sediment community this depth, indicating secondary by macrobenthos small but non-trivial component consumption turnover at floor deep ocean.
