摘要: We evaluated the presence and microbio logy of fungi in nasal secretions patients suffering chronic rhinosinusitis with polyps on population Crete island. tried to detect a correlation between long term use corticosteroid sprays fungus existence secretions. Nasal lavage specimens were co llected cultured for fungal growth. Twenty one different species isolated. Cu ltures positive 62.4% while they 18.8% healthy controls (p<0.001). A mparison users vs. non revealed g rowth 62% 62.9%. Fungal growth was mo re frequent compared controls. This finding does not necessarily signify causative role might suggest that geographic climate variat ions possibly influence colonizat ion. Fungus did differ markedly these reported by other investigators, however prevalence rates particular may reflect seasonal variations. The local cort icosteroids seem affect lonization sufferers polyps.
