Reconstruction of the severely resorbed mandible prior to vestibuloplasty or placement of endosseous implants

摘要: Ninety-two patients underwent augmentation of the severely resorbed mandible using corticocancellous bone grafts in symphysis and a mixture autogenous cancellous chips hydroxylapatite particles posterior area. This study, extending from 2 to 5 years, shows that predictable stable results were achieved. The average loss height measured at 3 reference points was approximately 20%. Slight sensory disturbance present 19 (23%). Benefits derived atrophic include: improvement facial form due renewed support collapsed circumoral muscles, decrease intermaxillary distance, restoration mandibular bulk will accommodate endosseous implants maximum size.
