Basidiomycetes have been subject investigation in many different areas genetics, and these are described various sections chapter. The rusts smuts, though taxonomically Basidiomycetes, genetically rather distinct owing to their mating system special techniques required for culture. also focuses on systems (comparison with flowering plants di-mon matings, relative sexuality), heterokaryons (dikaryon “flat” mycelia), mutation (induced mutants, undetermined mutagens, incompatibility factors), segregation (somatic recombination, tetrads, recombination among genes, labile heterozygosity one factor), cytoplasmic autonomy (the harder operation, affinity type, dwarf mycelia, sectoring variants).
