摘要: While seeking a new host cell, obligate intracellular parasites, such as the protozoan Toxoplasma gondii, must be able to endure stress of an extracellular environment. The mechanisms use remain viable while deprived cell are not understood. We have previously shown that phosphorylation eukaryotic initiation factor-2α (TgIF2α) is conserved response stress. Here we report characterization harboring point mutation (S71A) in TgIF2α prevents phosphorylation. Results show critical for parasite viability because TgIF2α-S71A mutants ill-equipped cope with life outside cell. also showed significant delay producing acute toxoplasmosis vivo. conclude plays crucial role during lytic cycle by ameliorating environment searches
