摘要: The effects of wheat germ agglutinin (WGA), Limulus lectin, and concanavalin A on cell shape changes were examined in human erythrocytes. These agents inhibited echinocytosis cells having elevated cytosolic Ca2+ or incorporated foreign phosphatidylcholine, but had no effect stomatocytosis response to phosphatidylserine. role the membrane skeleton this selective fixation was examined. WGA previously depleted polyphosphoinositides reduce binding transmembrane proteins, treated with phorbol ester enhance protein 4.1 phosphorylation, heat-treated denature spectrin, alkylated p-chloromercuribenzoate dissociate glycophorin from skeleton, subjected 2,3-diphosphoglycerate alter organization spectrin-actin-protein complex. lectin increased concentrations also stabilized discoid pronase-digested containing detectable intact glycophorin. In contrast, digestion sialidase abolished shape-stabilizing WGA. results suggest that is not involved stabilization. Rather, they glycoproteins glycolipids interact stabilize surface molecular associations, forming a superficial calyx inhibits outward, inward, bending.
