Observations of mean winds and tides in the upper mesosphere during 1980–1984, using the Poker Flat, Alaska, MST radar as a meteor radar

摘要: A postprocessing selection algorithm is used to determine the meteor echoes detected on Poker Flat, Alaska, MST radar (65°N, 147°W) from a composite data base consisting of and turbulence echoes. The echo distributions depend geometry antenna beams, presence strong echoes, average power transmitted, number coherent averages in signal processing. Winds are derived compute monthly mean winds tides upper mesosphere. These results consistent with previous high-latitude observations. Tidal amplitudes largest summer weakest winter. exhibit large month-to-month variability, although seasonal 1983 agreement those 1984. semidiurnal tide exhibits dramatic phase shift approximately 180° October November both years. Results suggest future enhancement wind can be achieved real-time detection.
