Cimetidine versus intensive antacid therapy for duodenal ulcer: a multicenter trial.

摘要: Abstract In a randomized double blind multicenter trial, patients treated with cimetidine (800 or 1200 mg daily) an intensive regimen of Al-Mg antacid (210 ml had similar rates duodenal ulcer healing and pain relief. After 4 weeks treatment, the proportion by endoscopy were: (1200 mg), 21 33 (64%); 19 32 (59%); antacids, 15 29 (52%). These proportions did not differ significantly. Eighty per cent cimetidine-treated became asymptomatic week 4, as 63% antacid-treated ( P > 0.1). No untoward effects were observed during treatment. Twenty-seven reported diarrhea.
