摘要: A study was conducted to examine the occurrence and concentration of dioxins furans in separated size fractions suspended sediment collected Canagagigue Creek near Elmira, Ontario. Field-based water elutriation systems were used collect a time-integrated sample solids from creek during spring storm event. The system hydraulically sorts into five predetermined grain-size classes ( 63 μm). Dioxin furan compounds detected at levels below Ontario Ministry Environment Energy (OMEE) Interim Sediment Quality Guidelines. Average concentrations most toxic compounds, 2,3,7,8 T 4 CDD CDF, 20 ppt 22 ppt, respectively. data show no trend between grain pollutant concentration. Concentrations sediments are consistent with contaminant observed river-bottom downstream flood-plain sediments. Independent studies that elevated accumulate tissues aquatic organisms may biomagnify through food chain.
