摘要: OBJECTIVE The aims of this study were to (1) detect the presence and edge frequency (fe) a cochlear dead region in ear with residual acoustic hearing for bimodal implant users, (2) determine whether amplification based on or absence would improve speech understanding sound quality. DESIGN Twenty-two listeners one nonimplanted tested. Eleven had acoustic-hearing 11 did not. Dead regions assessed threshold-equalizing noise (TEN) sweeping noise, psychophysical tuning curve tests. Speech was monosyllabic words AzBio sentences at +10 dB signal-to-noise ratio. Speech- music-quality judgments obtained Judgment Sound Quality questionnaire. RESULTS Using shifted tips as basis diagnosis, TEN high sensitivity (0.91) poor specificity (0.55) population. value fe lower when estimated test than test. For regions, understanding, quality music best no applied frequencies within region. without full-bandwidth reduced not audiometric threshold exceeded 80 HL. CONCLUSION data from suggest that, benefit who combine electric stimulation, audiologists should routinely bandwidth accordingly.
