摘要: Abstract 129 I is one of the more hazardous nuclides occurring in radioactive waste. In form − , its most likely speciation, it poorly sorbed on geologic media. Several workers have suggested use silver to precipitate as insoluble AgI, a cemented waste form, or “getter”. The efficacy this procedure examined by experiment, conjunction with thermodynamic predictions. addition AgNO 3 Portland cement leads coprecipitation C-S-H, low Ag solubilities (∼ 10 μ mg/L); 2–;3 orders magnitude lower than predicted (from 2 O). AgI stable these matrices, aqueous concentrations ( passing into solution; up 900 mg/L were observed. It shown that repository conditions, closure, are also induce solubilisation from AgI. concluded unlikely significantly improve immobilisation properties near field for radioiodine.
