Morphological changes of epithelial rests of Malassez in rat molars induced by local administration of N-methylnitrosourea

摘要: The objective was to examine the possibility that epithelial rests of Malassez can give origin odontogenic tumours. A mixture N-methylnitrosourea (MNU) and alginate impression material for dental use injected onto periosteum buccal side left mandible 5-week-old, male Wistar rats (300 mg/kg body wt). at site several months. were killed 1, 3, 5, 8 months after injection. After 5 months, in cervical bifurcational regions first, second, third mandibular molars significantly enlarged alveolar bone around lesion resorbed by multinucleated cells all rats. masses characterized enamel organ-like structures, deposition eosinophilic amorphous material, duct-like squamous metaplasia. In addition these molar regions, tumours induced incisal region carcinomas sarcomas region, knee, bladder, skin. Local administration a MNU induce from high incidence.
