摘要: Background: Bitter Melon (BM) is known for its hypoglycemic effect and commonly used in populations. Objectives: This study examined the effects safety of bitter melon fruit laboratory mice. Materials Methods: In this experimental 70 male mice (25-30 gr) were randomly divided into 7 groups. The injected intraperitoneally with single doses 0, 100, 500, 1000, 2000 4000 mg/kg multiple 500 daily days. then observed 72 hours before sacrificing. Immediately kidneys taken out histological examinations. Tubular cell vacuolization flattening as well hyaline casts, debris dilatation tubular lumen morphologic lesions which assessed scores from 0 to 4, while zero score addressed normal renal tissue. Serum samples assayed kidney function (creatinine; Cr Blood Urea Nitrogen; BUN). antioxidant activities measured, too. Data analyzed Stata software (Stata Corp. 2011. Statistical Software: Release 12. College Station, TX: Corp LP)using ANOVA Bonferroni tests. Results: All dose groups showed behavior after dosing no statistical changes blood parameters (p>0.05). Histological examinations revealed organ structures, however, group treated days statistically a significant change BUN (p=0.002) borderline significance (p=0.051). Conclusions: Administration up did not have any on histology, however chronic administration nephrotoxic. More studies different dosage regimens are suggested.
