Ethanolic extract of garlic for attenuation of gentamicin-induced nephrotoxicity in Wistar rats.

摘要: Introduction. Nephrotoxicity is a serious side effect of gentamicin and believed to be related reactive oxygen species in the kidney. This study was aimed find out whether garlic preparation ( Allium sativum L ) has ameliorative effects on nephrotoxicity. Materials Methods. Fifty male Wistar rats were divided into 5 groups 10 as follows: group 1, sham (control); 2 (positive control group), for days; 3, 4, days followed by 5, saline solution days. Gentamicin, mg/kg, extract, 20 administered intraperitoneally. Serum creatinine concentrations measured kidneys processed histopathological examinations.
