摘要: Edema is a common morbidity following cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB) and can result in injury to many organs, including the heart, lungs, brain. Generalized edema also lead increased post-operative hospital stay other morbidities. Pediatric patients are more susceptible post-CPB consequences severe for this population. Hemodilution systemic inflammatory responses two suspected causes of CPB-related edema; however, mechanisms involved far from understood. Also, strategies improve have not been completely successful there need new at maintaining fluid balance as close physiological possible, especially pediatric patients. An integrative approach understanding necessary forces homeostasis dynamic interdependent. Therefore, review will focus on physiology pathologies shifts during CPB which general well tissue-specific edema.
